# Notifications and email preferences

> Choose what Aide tells you about, and how, in Settings > Notifications.

Choose what Aide tells you about, and how, in Settings > Notifications. Conversation notifications are personal: each teammate picks their own. Unless a conversation is assigned to someone, everyone on its team is notified.

## Conversation notifications

For each event, choose **In app** and **Email** separately. Email can be **Off**, **On**, or **Outside hours only**, which emails you only while your team's business hours are closed, so you can step in from your phone.

| Event | When |
| - | - |
| Assigned to me | A conversation lands on your plate |
| Mentioned in a note | A teammate @-mentions you in an internal note |
| New unassigned conversation in my team | A conversation reaches one of your teams and nobody has it yet |
| Handoff requested | Aide asks for a person on your team or on an unassigned conversation |
| Customer replied on my conversation | A customer writes back on something assigned to you |
| SLA imminent on my conversation | One of your conversations is about to miss its target |
| SLA breached (team) | A conversation on your team missed its target |
| CSAT received on my conversation | A customer rates a conversation you handled |
| Unassigned and waiting (team) | A conversation on your team has waited too long without an owner |
| Order action needs approval | Aide or a teammate asks to approve a refund, return or other order change you can approve |
| Connection needs attention | Aide can no longer reach a connected helpdesk or channel (owners and admins) |

Notification emails say what happened, the conversation's subject, the customer's name and a link to the conversation; never the message itself. You get at most one email per conversation and event every 5 minutes, and none for events you caused yourself.

## Sound and desktop alerts

In-app notifications chime. Enable desktop alerts from the bell to also get an alert while Aide is in the background. Turning a notification off in app silences it too.

## Slack

Owners and admins can also post workspace alerts, such as handoffs and SLA warnings, to Slack channels. Personal notifications, such as mentions, never go to Slack. See [Send Aide alerts to Slack](/integrations/slack-notifications) to set it up.

## Product emails

* **Weekly summary**: what Aide handled last week, and where it needed a human.
* **Activity alerts**: when an import finishes, a scenario starts failing, or an agent goes offline.
* **Setup tips**: a short series on getting the most out of Aide. Stops on its own.
* **Event invitations**: webinars and office hours with the Aide team.
* **Product news**: new features and changes worth knowing about.

## The notification bell

In-app notifications collect under the bell. Mark one as read, or mark all as read at once.
