Deploy an AI chatbot to provide instant website support with Aide AI
Providing timely and personalized support to your website visitors is essential for improving customer satisfaction and driving conversions. However, managing a high volume of inquiries can be challenging, and 24/7 support can be infeasible for smaller teams. This can result in longer response times and missed opportunities to connect with potential customers.
By adding Aide Chat to your website, you can offer instant support to your visitors around the clock. Aide Chat can handle common questions, provide relevant information, and guide customers through their journey, escalating complex issues to your support team when necessary.
What you’ll accomplish
By following these steps, you’ll create an Aide Chat widget and embed it on your website. Once set up, your chatbot will be able to answer common questions, assist customers in navigating your site, and provide relevant information. As you refine your bot’s knowledge base and create workflows, you can expand its capabilities to handle more complex inquiries.
Pre-requisites
- A website or web application (e.g., Shopify store, custom site)
- A knowledge base or FAQ with information about your products, services, or event
Task outline and guidelines
For this use case, you will:
- Create a new bot in Aide
- Configure the bot’s name, greeting message, and tone of voice
- Add your existing knowledge base or FAQ to the bot’s knowledge
- Embed the bot on your website using the provided code snippet
Setting it up in the app
Tip: You can import the FAQ Bot template to get started quickly. This comes packaged with a pre-configured bot and a sample knowledge base.
Otherwise, follow the steps below.
Create a new bot
- Go to the Bots page and click +create
- Name your bot and provide a brief description
- Further customize the bot as you see fit, according to any of these options:
- Give the bot a custom greeting
- Customize tone of voice with instructions
- Program suggested actions
- Select an “identifier” from a list of identifiers that are compliant with proposed laws and enacted policies regarding AI disclosure, i.e. that it identifies as a “bot,” “virtual assistant,” or “ai agent” but never as a person
When creating your bot, choose a name and personality that aligns with your brand and resonates with your target audience. Keep the greeting message concise and friendly, setting the tone for the conversation.
Configure the bot’s knowledge
First option: Import help center
- Go to the Knowledge page and click import
- Paste in the URL of your help center
- If Aide identifies the source (such as Zendesk, Gorgias, etc.), it will automatically import for you
Second option: Manually add knowledge
- Go to the Knowledge page and click +create article
- Write articles for each common question and answer pair you get, or paste in useful text from other sources
Embed the bot on your website
First option: Deploy to Website
- Go to the Bots page and click on your newly created bot
- Select the “add to website” button in the bot settings header
- Paste the code snippet into your website’s HTML, just before the closing

tag - Customize the appearance and behavior of the chat widget using the available settings and CSS options
Second option: Deploy to Shopify
- Go to the Bots page and click on your newly created bot
- Select the add to Shopify button in the bot settings header
- Select your store.
- If you connected multiple stores to Aide, you can specify which one to deploy the bot to. We recommend one bot per store.
Test it
- Visit your website in a web browser
- Locate the chat widget and click on it to open the conversation
- Type in a question from your FAQ and verify that Aide provides the correct answer
Next steps
- Regularly review the conversation transcripts to identify areas for improvement and gaps in your knowledge base
- Create Workflows to handle common customer actions, such as booking a demo or tracking orders
