Set up forwarding
- Go to Channels > Email and choose “Forward an address”.
- Enter your support address and, optionally, a sender name.
- Aide gives the address its own forwarding address. Copy it and follow the guide for your provider: Gmail and Google Workspace, Google Groups, Outlook and Microsoft 365, or others.
- Under “Check that it works”, select “Send a test email”. When it comes back through forwarding, the address shows as connected. The first real customer email connects it too.
Send replies from your own domain
Until your domain is verified, replies go out from Aide’s shared sending address with your sender name, and “reply to” set to your support address, so customer answers come back through forwarding. To send from your support address itself, add the DNS records listed under Channels > Email at your domain provider. Each has a copy button and a status; select “Check again” once they’re in. There are three CNAME records that sign your email, plus an MX and a TXT record on asend subdomain.
Free addresses such as Gmail, Outlook.com or Yahoo can’t be verified, so their replies always use Aide’s shared address.
What comes in
- Each new customer email starts a conversation, with its attachments. A reply on the thread joins the existing conversation, including recently closed ones.
- Bounces, out-of-office replies and auto-replies are ignored. Senders on your block list land in Spam.
- Newsletters and bulk mail come in but are never answered automatically.
- A new email notifies the conversation’s team, or everyone when it has no team.
